Keeping athletes organized across a busy recruiting calendar requires more than a single list. With Tags, EventBeacon gives you a flexible way to categorize, filter, and manage athletes based on what matters most to your program—recruiting stage, academic fit, geography, position needs, and more.
Tags are fully customizable, shared across your program, and available anywhere you evaluate athletes in EventBeacon.
What Are Tags?
Tags allow you to label athletes using custom categories (Tag Groups) and specific values (Tags) within those groups.
Examples include:
- Recruiting Stage → No Contact, Actively Recruiting, Scholarship Offered
- Academic Fit → High GPA, High Test Scores, Interested Major is a Fit
- Geography → In State, Out of State
- Interest Level → High Interest, Medium Interest, No Interest
Unlike Watchlist or Favorites, tags let you organize athletes across multiple dimensions at once, making filtering, exporting, and collaboration easier for your entire staff.
Where You’ll Find Tags
Games Tab – Athlete Cards
Tags are visible directly on athlete cards within the Games tab.
To manage tags from a game:
- Click into a game
- View the side-by-side rosters
- Tap the tag icon on an athlete card
- Select existing tags or click Manage to create or edit tags
Athletes Tab – Tag Filters
You can filter athletes by tags from the Athletes tab.
How filtering works:
- Up to 5 tag groups appear by default
- If your program has more than 5 groups, select View More
- Click into a tag group to see all available tags
- Filter by one or multiple tags at once
- The total number of matching athletes appears in the bottom right
- Click Reset All to clear filters
You can also click Manage from within the filter to edit or create tags.
Exports with Tags
Tagged athletes are automatically included in coach exports.
What to expect in exports:
- One column per tag group
- Multiple tags in the same group appear as comma-separated values
- Athletes with multiple tag groups will populate multiple columns
Auto-Follow Behavior
When you tag an athlete:
- The athlete is automatically followed
- Tagged athletes appear in your Followed Athletes export
- This ensures important prospects don’t get missed later
Using Tags In a Downloaded Event
Tags remain available when you’re working in a downloaded event, with a few limitations.
While not connected to the internet, coaches can:
- Apply or remove existing tags
While not connected to the internet, coaches cannot:
- Create, edit, or delete tag groups
- Manage tags (an error message will appear)
While working in a downloaded event, data syncs every 3 hours. Once data syncs:
- All tag changes are updated automatically
- Tag edits made by different coaches are merged across the program
Important Notes About Tags
- Tags are shared across your entire program
- All coaches see the same tag groups and tags
- Tags are available at every event
- Changes sync across devices and staff automatically
