SportsRecruits profiles are a centralized location for college coaches to evaluate your team's student-athletes. They can view videos, review athletic and academic information, and communicate with your team all through the platform. It is important to have everything in one singular profile, but sometimes multiple profiles (or duplicates) can be created. If you, the athlete, or a parent notices this, the Events Team can help. Please contact them at events@sportsrecruits.com.
Why is there a duplicate account?
Multiple accounts for an athlete can be created during any process related to creating accounts. We have a system with certain criteria in place that notifies us of potential multiple accounts. However, if names and/or email addresses are not close enough to combine the accounts, rather than potentially merging together false data, a new account is created. These are most often a result of:
-
Rosters being created for Events
-
Rosters are being updated for an integrated Club or High School
-
An account is created accidentally on a login/signup page
If an athlete attends an event and submits information for the event roster or is added to an integrated team's roster, the athlete's information must match exactly in order for their existing account to be synced. This includes first name, last name, athlete email, and graduation year. If any of this information does not match the existing account's information exactly, then a new account may be created.

Note: Accounts with different names or nicknames or different athlete emails are a common reason for multiple accounts.
-
Ex. 1: Cassandra vs. Cassie will be read as two different athletes. Similarly, the name Cassandra "Cassie" vs. Cassandra will not be recognized as the same athlete.
-
Ex. 2: An athlete has the same spelling, but two email addresses (example@gmail.com and example@icloud.com) will be read as two different athletes.

How do I avoid creating multiple/ duplicate accounts for my athletes?
To prevent duplicate accounts from being created in the future, we recommend the following:
-
Make sure all email addresses you use to roster are listed on athlete profiles, for both the athlete and their guardians.
• Have the athletes utilize their notifications settings to manage the volume of text or emails they receive as a result. -
Have your athletes choose one version of their names and use it everywhere.
• Use this exact same name on all event rosters, liability waivers, sign ups, etc.
• Have them make note of any nicknames or additional names in the “About Me/Bio” section of the profile.
