Why are College Coaches Required to Have a .edu Email Address?

College Coaches have free and full use of EventBeacon. EventBeacon provides college coaches access to thousands of recruiting profiles of student-athletes attending recruiting events across the country. It is a very powerful & effective platform. That being said, we have to ensure that all of this powerful data is protected for the sake of our athletes and event partners.

Protecting Your Data on EventBeacon

We work diligently to maintain an up to date database of college coach contact information and ensure that accessing EventBeacon is as seamless as possible. In addition to making it easy for coaches, we want to make sure athletes are protected. Student-athletes provide huge amounts of incredibly personal information on their profiles. We have to take the necessary precautions to protect this information.

Why We Require .edu Email Addresses

We require that all coaches requesting access to use EventBeacon do so using their .edu email addresses. We are not authorized to setup EventBeacon login credentials for any individual using a personal email address. Additionally, that email address must be listed in the athletic staff directory for your program indicating that you are currently an active college coach who should have access to our database of college coaches.

Why .edu Email Addresses Matter

Having a .edu email address validates a college coach as a certified member of an accredited college or university. Additionally, permitting only .edu emails allows us to better maintain our database and protect information in the event of coach turnover. Player notes and evaluations are shared across coaches at each program. When a coach leaves a program, the school will likely deactivate that email address. This will remove the email from our database and ensure that only active coaches have access to each program's recruiting information. Additionally, inactive coaches will no longer be able to access student-athlete information.

What to Do If You Don't Have a .edu Email

If you are an active coach at a collegiate athletics program and do not have access to a .edu email address, please have an athletic administrator or another coach at your program reach out to us from their .edu email address to validate your information.
