Recruiting in offline mode allows you to recruit on EventBeacon without a connection to data or WIFI. This can be great at events with unreliable cell service, poor WIFI connections, or situations where you want to conserve battery or data! Download event data as you would download a playlist on Spotify or a show on Netflix before boarding a flight in order to recruit in offline mode.

Should I work in offline or online mode?
It is up to you! If you anticipate having a very poor internet or data connection on site, we recommend downloading the event to your device beforehand. If you want to conserve your device's battery or data plan, offline mode is also helpful for that.
It is not necessary to work in offline mode. Working online ensures that your device is constantly refreshing the app with the most up to date information possible throughout the day should there be any changes.
How do I sync my favorites, watchlist, notes, and evaluations I took in offline mode?
Favorites, watchlist categorizations, notes, and evaluations that you take while working in offline mode will be stored to your device until you reconnect to data or WIFI. As soon as you are connected and open the EventBeacon app, all of this information will automatically sync to your account. At this point, other coaches on your staff will be able to see this data.
If there are roster or schedule changes, how do I get those updates while in offline mode?
If you download an event and keep your device connected to wifi or data, the EventBeacon app will remain in offline mode. As long as your device has a connection, it will periodically check for updates every three hours. If there have been changes, the app will refresh your download accordingly.
If you download an event and your device is not connected to any data or wifi, you'll want to manually refresh your download to check for updates. We recommend doing this halfway through the event or at the end of the day if you have the luxury to do so.
How do I refresh or update a downloaded event?
Refreshing your download ensures you have the most up to date information downloaded to the app. To refresh your download, click the three dots in the top righthand corner of the app. Then tap the refresh button next to your download:
Can I still work in offline mode while my device is still connected to data or WIFI?
Yes! If you download an event and keep your device connected to wifi or data, the EventBeacon app will remain in offline mode. As long as your device has a connection, it will periodically check for updates every three hours. If there have been changes, the app will refresh your download accordingly.
How do I switch back to online mode?
First, ensure your device is connected to data or WIFI. Tap the three dots in the top righthand corner of your app. Toggle "Download Event" to off.
I am in offline mode. Why can't I see the notes & evaluations my other coaches made?
When you download the data for an event, that data will include any notes and evaluations taken by coaches on your staff up until that point. If notes & evaluations are made by other coaches on your staff while you are offline, your device has no way of populating those notes/evaluations on your app (since you aren't connected to data or WIFI). As soon as both you & the other coaches connect your devices to WIFI or data, you'll see each other's notes & evaluations.
Do I have to keep the app open while downloading an event?
Yes, you do. Downloading an event should take no more than 2 minutes depending on the size of the event & the strength of your connection. If you leave the app or lock your device while downloading event data, the download will stall.
