Recruiting in downloaded mode allows you to continue to recruit on EventBeacon whether your device has internet connection or not. This can be great at events with unreliable cell service, poor WIFI connections, or situations where you want to conserve battery or data! Download event data as you would download a playlist on Spotify or a show on Netflix before boarding a flight in order to recruit in offline mode.

Should I work in the downloaded event?
It is up to you! If you anticipate having a very poor internet or data connection on site, we recommend downloading the event to your device beforehand so you can work in the downloaded event. If you want to conserve your device's battery or data plan, downloaded mode is also helpful for that.
It is not necessary to work in downloaded mode. Working online in the live event ensures that your device is constantly refreshing the app with the most up to date information possible throughout the day should there be any changes.
How do I sync my favorites, watchlist, notes, and evaluations I took in Downloaded mode?
Favorites, schedule assignments, watchlist categorizations, notes, and evaluations that you take while working in downloaded mode will be stored to your device. If you are working in a downloaded event but still have internet access, your information will periodically sync with the cloud, ensuring it is saved outside your device. If you have no connection, you must wait until you have connection again for your information to sync.
When connected to the internet, you can sync all information from your downloaded event at any time by refreshing the download.
If there are roster or schedule changes, how do I get those updates while in downloaded mode?
If you download an event and keep your device connected to wifi or data, the EventBeacon app will remain in downloaded mode. As long as your device has a connection, it will periodically check for updates every three hours. If there have been changes, the app will refresh your download accordingly.
If you download an event and your device is not connected to any data or wifi, you'll want to manually refresh your download to check for updates. We recommend doing this halfway through the event or at the end of the day if you have the luxury to do so.
How do I refresh or update a downloaded event?
Refreshing your download ensures you have the most up to date information downloaded to the app. To refresh your download, click the three dots in the top righthand corner of the app. Then tap the refresh button next to your download:
Can I still work in downloaded mode while my device is still connected to data or WIFI?
Yes! If you download an event and keep your device connected to wifi or data, the EventBeacon app will remain in downloaded mode. As long as your device has a connection, it will periodically check for updates every three hours. If there have been changes, the app will refresh your download accordingly.
How do I switch out of downloaded mode?
First, ensure your device is connected to data or WIFI. Tap the three dots in the top righthand corner of your app. Toggle "Download Event" to off.
I am in downloaded mode. Why can't I see the game assignments or the notes and evaluations my other coaches made?
When you download the data for an event, that data will include any game assignments, notes, and evaluations taken by coaches on your staff up until that point. If new game assignments, notes, or evaluations are made by other coaches on your staff while you are working in downloaded mode, your device has no way of populating those notes/evaluations on your app (since you aren't connected to data or WIFI). As soon as both you & the other coaches connect your devices to WIFI or data and the data refreshes, you'll see the new assignments, notes, and evaluations.
Do I have to keep the app open while downloading an event?
Yes, you do. Downloading an event should take no more than 2 minutes depending on the size of the event & the strength of your connection. If you leave the app or lock your device while downloading event data, the download will stall.
